June 13, 2024 – Health Canada has determined the Honglou 4PACK duplex electrical outlet wall plate with LED night lights “likely poses a danger to human health or safety, and poses an unreasonable risk of electrical shock and fire”.

The product was sold as a 4-pack of snap-on outlet cover plates that resembles a regular wall plate but doubles as a night light.

It has two electrical prongs that extend from the back of the plate, which contact both sets of screws on any standard receptacle and draw power for its three bottom-mounted LEDs. There are no batteries or wires, and the LEDs turn on and off automatically using a light sensor.

To date, no incidents or injuries related to this product have been reported to Health Canada.

The product was sold on Amazon.ca under ASIN B082W66D6J.

Amazon.ca reports 816 units were sold in Canada between November 2020 and August 2022. The item has been removed from sale from Amazon.ca.

The product is manufactured in China and distributed by Honglou/Hong Kong Hong Le Technology Co. Limited.
