June 13, 2024 | By Anthony Capkun

June 13, 2024 – Skilled Trades Ontario (STO) has launched an online information centre that provides trade reports, links, and other skilled trades-related resources and research.

“Our mission at Skilled Trades Ontario is to streamline services and make it easier to learn more about how the skilled trades operate in our province,” said Melissa Young, CEO and Registrar, speaking of the new Resource Hub. “I’m proud to say that we are making progress on that mission.”

STO says it recently published more than 50 Red Seal trade reports offering insights into trade characteristics, educational pathways, workforce demographics and current labour market conditions.

The agency has also unveiled an inventory of updated training and curriculum standards “to boost transparency and accessibility in the skilled trades sector”. These lists outline the new standards for Ontario’s skilled trades that have been developed since the STO’s launch.

An agency of the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, Skilled Trades Ontario is responsible for apprenticeship and skilled trades certification in Ontario.
