With the acquisition of the E-House manufacturing business of Tesla Power & Automation (Houston, Texas), Siemens says it is expanding its portfolio in the field of medium-voltage equipment and strengthening its competence in the design and production of pre-manufactured modular power distribution systems (E-Houses). Thus, Siemens says it will be in a position to offer complete solutions primarily featuring products manufactured in-house—namely the weatherproof E-House, medium- and low-voltage switchgear, transformers and control systems. Also known as power equipment/distribution centres, rugged E-Houses equipped with a customized power distribution system will be in increasing demand in the oil and gas industry, asserts Siemens, and in the metals and mining sectors, where plants are often built and operated in inhospitable, remote regions.
