January 14, 2010 | By

The S&D-sponsored University of Industrial Distribution (UID) is currently offering registration for individuals looking to increase their knowledge in this sector. UID says it is a concentrated, continuing-education program focused on the needs of the industrial distribution industry. The four-day program allows attendees to build a custom curriculum from 30 courses on the key functional disciplines relevant to industrial distribution.

The program will run from March 7 to 11 at the Conference Centre of the Indiana University/Purdue University at Indianapolis.

The program is designed for CEOs, branch managers, sales and marketing
managers, purchasing managers, human resource directors, operations
managers, inventory managers, training managers and manufacturer
personnel in regional sales, distribution sales and marketing
management.

The curriculum will teach how to differentiate a distribution company
for specific market environments, and improve bottom-line profitability
by effectively managing the negotiation process. It was also designed
to develop pricing strategies, manage operations and branches, create
marketing plans, motivate employees and provide strategies for hiring.

UID students can apply their course work toward earning the
Professional Certificate in Industrial Distribution awarded by Purdue
University. As an industrial distribution professional, the UAB
Professional Certificate recognizes achievements and commitment to
education. To receive the certificate students must participate in a
minimum of 90 hours (9 CEUs) of course work with at least 30 hours (3
CEUs) earned through UID course participation. Additional credits may
be derived from courses taken independently or through a trade
association. There are no additional fees to attain the certificate.
