New Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence (ACCE) opens for skilled trades education

November 3, 2011 – Opened in September 2011, the Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence (ACCE) at Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ont., is a 190,000-sf. space that allows for all construction and related design programs to be housed in a single location. Programs offered at the Centre include:
• Diploma or advanced diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology
• Diploma in Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Technician
• Diploma in Powerline Technician
• Apprenticeships in Electrician (Construction and Maintenance)
• Apprenticeships in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic
• Apprenticeships in Residential and ICI Air Conditioning Common Core
According to the school, the space is designed to encourage collaboration between disciplines and offer integrated and cross-program learning opportunities for students. Many of the programs were developed to Red Seal Program standards, it adds.
