May 22, 2024 – In an effort to lessen the current skilled trades worker shortage and raise awareness of skilled trades careers, Metal Supermarkets has kicked off its 3rd annual Trade School Scholarship program, which includes four $2500 scholarships to support young people seeking careers in trades in Canada and the United States.

The company says it is “committed to providing students with financial support to continue their education, grow their knowledge in their chosen field and, ultimately, enter the workforce as a skilled tradesperson”.

ELIGIBILITY

• Students accepted to and attending a post-secondary trade school program with a semester beginning in 2024.
• Open to citizens, permanent residents, and resident aliens legally residing in Canada or the U.S. with a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Scholarship funds are payable to the winner’s certified trade school in Canada or the U.S.
• Winner must enroll or already be enrolled in the upcoming semester.

(Employees of Metal Supermarkets Franchising Family of Companies, its franchisees, franchisee staff, or their family members may not enter.)

Founded by William “Bill” H. Mair, the first Metal Supermarkets store was established outside Toronto, Ont., in 1985. In 2020, the chain celebrated its 100th location (in San Diego, Calif.).
