June 12, 2025 – Messe Frankfurt has expanded its global events portfolio by acquiring shares in LightFair, North America’s largest architectural and commercial lighting event.

LightFair is now part of Messe’s international Light + Building network.

“By bringing together the unique expertise and communities of these three organizations, LightFair will provide the space to learn, network, and innovate in ways not experienced anywhere else,” said Colleen Harper, executive director, Illuminating Engineering Society (IES).

IES and the International Association of Lighting Designers are co-owners of LightFair.

In the future, Messe will organize its 5-day Light + Building trade fair and accompanying conference in partnership with IALD and IES.
