Manitoba’s McKenzie Electric named Employer of the Year

November 16, 2014 | By Anthony Capkun

November 16, 2014 – The 8th annual Apprenticeship Awards of Distinction were recently presented, highlighting the dedication and commitment of employers, journeypersons and industry training leaders who have contributed to the success of apprenticeship training in Manitoba.

Congratulations to McKenzie Electric Ltd., which scored Employer of the Year (Urban) awards.

“When employers and industry leaders help an apprentice learn a trade, they’re strengthening that person’s family, neighbourhood and community,” said Kevin Chief, jobs and economy minister. “These awards recognize the many mentors in Manitoba who are making a difference by building a province where no matter who you are or where you come from, you know you can have a bright future.”

This year marks the 70th anniversary of apprenticeship in Manitoba, noted Chief. He added there are more than 10,000 active apprentices in over 55 designated trades in the province, and almost 30,000 journeypeople have been certified since 1944.
