August 8, 2024 | By Anthony Capkun

August 8, 2024 – Manitoba Hydro reports the death of one of its employees at a worksite this morning in the Interlake—the region between lakes Winnipeg and Manitoba.

“Our deepest sympathies go out to the individual’s loved ones, friends and coworkers,” said president & CEO Allan Danroth. “We are devastated to lose a member of our Manitoba Hydro family. The safety of our employees and customers is our top priority, and we are committed to fully investigating the cause of this tragedy.”

The deceased was performing work related to a power outage.

While the cause is under investigation, Manitoba Hydro says there is no risk to public safety, and that it is cooperating with the appropriate authorities.

“We are not releasing the deceased employee’s name while we support the family and respect their privacy,” added the utility.
