Legrand joins ZigBee Alliance board of directors

December 28, 2011 – The ZigBee Alliance—a “global ecosystem of companies creating wireless solutions for use in energy management, residential, commercial and consumer electronics applications”—has announced that Legrand is now a Promoter level member and the newest member of the ZigBee Alliance board of directors.

“Legrand wants to take a larger role in the ZigBee Alliance because it develops the best global standards that give people the control they need to increase the energy efficiency of homes and businesses,” said Fabrizio Fabrizi, group vice-president of the Commercial Systems and Infrastructures Division, Legrand.

“ZigBee standards play an important role in Legrand’s ambition to strengthen its leading position for electrical and digital infrastructures for buildings, and to become the reference for smart electrical systems and services with innovative, highly energy-efficient solutions,” he added.

Legrand joins Ember Corp., Emerson, Freescale Semiconductor, Inc., Itron Inc., Kroger, Landis+Gyr, Philips Electronics, Reliant Energy, Schneider Electric, STMicroelectronics, Tendril, Inc. and Texas Instruments on the ZigBee Alliance board of directors.

“The ZigBee Alliance is pleased that Legrand will be using its electrical and building systems leadership to promote the adoption of ZigBee standards,” said Bob Heile, chairman of the ZigBee Alliance. “Legrand’s position as a leading global manufacturer of electrical systems for buildings will help people experience the convenience of ZigBee control while improving their overall comfort, convenience and energy efficiency.”
