IEEE ComSoc to honour 2009 career and service award recipients

The IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), an organization dedicated to the advancement of communications technologies, will honour career and service accomplishments at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu. The Global Communications Event (IEEE Globecom 2009), themed "Riding the Wave to Global Connectivity", showcases business and consumer networking technologies related to the latest advances in voice, data, image and multimedia communications.

Included among this year’s honourees is Carlton University’s David
Falconer, who will receive the Award for Public Service in the Field of
Telecommunications.  His contributions include the advancement of
modems that may become integral to the development of fourth-generation
cellular mobile systems.

In addition to awards, the event will feature panel discussions by numerous industry leaders.
