September 16, 2013 – Hydro Ottawa was honoured today by the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE) with a National Outstanding Achievement Award for its Safe Supervisor Program.

“Nothing is more important than the safety of our employees and customers,” said Hydro Ottawa president and CEO Bryce Conrad. “The Safe Supervisor Program is just one example of the many safety and trades training programs in place at Hydro Ottawa to ensure that every employee is able to perform their job safely every single day.”

The Safe Supervisor Program was first introduced at the utility in 2011. It provides hands-on training to new supervisors in safety audits, field and equipment inspections, incident investigations and other safety-related activities.

“Specialized safety training programs like this help to cement our innovative and safety-oriented culture, which continues to be recognized by our industry and peers,” added Conrad.
