Dr. Tariq Samad, a corporate fellow at Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions (ACS), has been elected to the governing board of the Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP). The SGIP is a consensus-driven organization that provides an open process for businesses and other stakeholder groups to participate in coordinating and accelerating development of standards for the evolving smart grid.

On the SGIP governing board, Dr. Samad will represent the stakeholder
category of commercial and industrial equipment manufacturers and
automation vendors.

Dr. Samad is considered qualified for this position because, among
other responsibilities, he leads companywide initiatives in clean
energy, administers research programs in emerging technologies and
oversees Honeywell’s university collaborations.

Dr. Samad is an IEEE fellow, the 2009 president of IEEE Control Systems
Society, and past editor-in-chief of Control Systems Magazine.
