Centennial College course on electric vehicles

LEARNED AT APPRO: Centennial College is offering a course dealing primarily with electric vehicles used for personal transportation, where the internal combustion engine is replaced by a battery and electric motor drive (“Introduction To Electric Vehicles” CESD-940).

Running from May to June, 2010, the course is devoted to providing the
student with information on converting a ‘conventional’ automobile to
an electric one, and covers the basics of alternating/direct current,
motors, speed controls, batteries, relays and battery chargers.
Automotive components discussed include chassis, transmission, wheels
and brakes.

Students will also learn how to deal with the chemical and electrical hazards of batteries, and high-ampere/-voltage wiring.
